MCT Oils
What's MCT Oil?
Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs) are a particular type of dietary fat that are most commonly found in coconut and palm oils. MCT's are important fatty acids that are between 6-12 carbon chains in length and are rarer in the diet than other fats. The Melrose MCT range consists of varying blends of caproic (C6), caprylic (C8), capric (C10), and the slightly longer 12-chain MCT lauric acid (C12).
MCTs aren't digested and absorbed in the same way as normal dietary fats, instead they are easily digested and processed in the liver, providing immediate fuel rather than being stored as fat in the body. They have been researched extensively for their many benefits that include:
- Encouraging the creation of brain and body-friendly ketone fuels for natural energy.
- Supports mental and physical performance
- Help you get into and stay in ketosis
- Increased fat-burning
- Helps maintain and support digestive health
- 100% coconut oil
How to use MCT Oil
MCT Oil is a translucent liquid without any flavor, that’s what makes it so easy to take as a shot on its own, or added to your smoothie, protein shake, salad dressing or in so many other meals! Because MCT oil has a low smoke point it is best used at lower temperatures. One of our favorite ways to have MCT is with coffee - just add a tablespoon to your morning brew or as pre-workout fuel to feel its energizing effects!
Everyone’s digestive system has a different tolerance to MCT Oil. We recommend trying a small amount first, like half a tablespoon and working your way up depending on your individual needs.
